'The Wrong Response to..' - Character and Prop Design

Below are some of the ideas constructed from our phase of designing the characters and props for 'The Wrong Response to...'. It is important to us that we create props and characters which personality from the first moment of meeting them on screen, but also keeping them stereotypical enough to instantly know what their role in the skit is. We need the props to convey a mood as well as a purpose in the scene. These are our preliminary sketches and digital drawings to cement us an anchor point to our world.

Prompts · Brainstorming

Today the team got together and decided to work on possible prompts for the final animation. Here are the outcomes of the meeting. The Wrong Response to... ‘I love you’ The characters kiss and they are suddenly able to look at their future together. When they stop kissing they know they could not be together. The character freezes and starts walking backwards until they are at home (reverse). The character runs away leaving a cardboard cut out. They kiss and one character absorbs the other. A Surprise Party The character enters home for their surprise but no one is there. Normal party but all the guests are on the ceiling and the character is surprised. The character opens the door to all his friends and family, but gets surprised and scared, then runs away. Surprise party but when the lights flicker off the guests disappear then reappear when they come back on (continuous loops of "surprise" being shouted). Robbery Skit · Evolution

Since picking our prompt some of our ideas have gone through a lot of different changes. This is just a brief run down of how we developed our ideas and got to where we are at.  Location: Alleyway Street Stage with building and Alley props  Victim:  Victim female Victim becomes the robber and robs the original one (abandoned idea) Mary Poppins like bag, robber keeps pulling more and more ideas out  Banana phone pulled from bag confusing the robber (accompanying chosen)  Trampoline used as another ridiculous object to be pulled out, further confusing the robber  Robber hands balloons to victim which he pulls out her bag and she floats away  Police Badge Pulled out of the bag by the robber, causing the robber to run away ( chosen idea) Robber:   Gets angry and snatches victims bag  Climbs into the bag, disappears and bag gets picked up/taken away  Pulls out police badge, realises victim is a polic...
