The Team

Animancers Studio welcomes you to our blog. As we are a brand new animation studio, we would like to introduce ourselves.

Alfie Gunter

I am a student at the university for the creative arts rochester, studying Computer animation arts. I knew I wanted to do something in the creative industry but for a very long time had no clue what. Eventually after some consideration I decided animation was the route I wanted to take.

I was born and raised in North London and came from a background of creative parents. This helped me become the person I am through their encouragement and support.

I'm an indoors person so I don't have too many hobbies, if I'm inside I tend to play games. However, I enjoy wandering around London for hours.

Juanjo Estany

Juanjo Estany is a student of Computer Animation Arts at the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester.

Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, he always felt drawn to graphic design and animation but never thought of pursuing a career in art until he was 14, when he started to take drawing more seriously.

In 2017 he applied for university in the UK and started his studies at UCA, where he is being trained in 3D modelling and animation software.

His interests include photography, art and mindfulness, he enjoys spending time outdoors.

Megan Robson

I’m currently a 2nd year studying Computer Animation Arts at UCA Rochester.

For a while I’ve been creating art both digital and traditional, it wasn’t until college I started to develop and take drawing more seriously. I have the interest to learn all forms of art as I have a passion for expressing my creativity.

Apart from creating my other interests include music and video games.

Thomas Sherwood

Born in 1993 in Kent I spent my later youth training for a career in the military. After getting cold feet I found myself working in the Health Sector as a Health Care Assistant in multiple establishments and am currently experiencing my seventh year in this role.

In 2014, the later years of this period I found and fell in love with my Fiance and promptly moved to Medway in order to be with her. I soon discovered a love for film and drawing which blossomed into the form of creating Youtube videos and exploring the various Adobe media products in order to weave greater experiences for my viewers.

I enlisted in the University of Creative Arts in Rochester for Computer Animation in 2017; I am currently in my second year of the degree and training to become a fully Qualified 3D Animator with a compulsion to explore Directing of Film in great detail.

The Wrong Response to a Backfired Mugging - Production Art

Character Design · Moom Poses

These are the poses that we will be using for our character design. Each pose is given a personality based off of our script. The lifeguard is a macho man type that's full of confidence and loves his looks, as for the swimmer she's a flirtatious beauty in demand of attention. In the next set of poses, we have the old lady; sweet and innocent and a little bit quirky. Lastly, we have the mischievous robber, always up to no good. Meg will take these and apply our character designs over the top.  Lifeguard Pose/Skit 1 Swimmer Pose/Skit 1 Old Lady Pose/Skit 2 Robber Pose/Skit 2

Swimming Pool · Skit Evolution

The Swiming pool skit began life as 'The Wrong Response to... Drowning', a macabre subject but we saw the potential when played right for something very funny. The idea began life on a beach, there were three components which contributed to the skit. The first one was the Lifeguard, we went from having him as a hunky Baywatch character, the crazy character of the skit, was scared of water, and/or failed to save the drowning victim in some way, suggests went from being unable to swim, to being scared by a shark fin, to trying to bail out the ocean with a bucket, to taking his time to blow up an inflatable boat.  The problems began to arise when we thought more about the concept of having to create an environment using water. This forced us to consider more options, we had a good formula but it needed tweaking. It was then suggested that the Drowning person become the crazy person; in this scenario, the lifeguard was the serious character. Concepts then went from ideas of
